A gluten free diet is specifically for people who have Celiac disease, where the condition, caused by an abnormal immune response to gluten, can damage the lining of the small intestine. Yet most of the people who reach for gluten-free products don’t have celiac disease and or even a sensitivity to wheat. Somehow people’s perception of a gluten free diet is that it is healthier! Although this diet is necessary for people with this condition, to others it is not because it can lack vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Alternating between different grains in order to give our bodies different varieties, is the best way to ensure a healthy, nutritious diet.
