The onion family, leeks, shallots, chives, and garlic are rich in sulfur. These sulfurous foods are excellent antioxidants and not only they can help increase the liver’s ability to flush out toxins, they can also inhibit the absorption of heavy metals, such as lead (known to cause skin damage and cancer.) As a strong antioxidant, sulfur may help fight cancer, by increasing the body’s immune response and stopping the growth of certain tumors, as well.
